The of the City of , will please pay Mr David Bryant thirteen Dollars, for me, and which I <am> entitled to receive out of the first Monies which may come into the Treasury, which Sum I owe him, and is in full of all Accounts between him and me.—
After receiving this pay order, William Clayton made a note to pay Bryant when money came into the treasury. The verso of that note indicates that Bryant received $9.50 on 2 November 1843. The Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger notes that Bryant was paid $9.50 on 1 November 1843 and the other $3.50 on 26 December 1843.
